The MMA Solidarity Foundation has supported the inclusion and wellbeing of people with disabilities for over 40 years. Find out about what it does, its values and the project it supports.

A Foundation for people with disabilities

The MMA Solidarity Foundation was created in 1983 under the aegis of the Fondation de France. Its aim is promote the inclusion, wellbeing and autonomy of people with disabilities, whether physical or mental.

To this end, the MMA Solidarity Foundation funds community projects to help children and adults with disabilities. The numbers attest to its efforts:

  • €579,650 of subsidies granted in 2022(1);
  • 72 charities supported in 2022(1);
  • Over 2,500 projects funded over the last 40 years(2);
  • Over 25,000 people have benefited from the Foundation’s support(2).

Support for concrete and immediately useful projects

Each year, the MMA Solidarity Foundation provides financial support for a variety of initiatives relating in particular to:

  • Help and assistance;
  • Sport and leisure;
  • Entering employment;
  • Culture.

The many grants given to charities attest to the MMA Solidarity Foundation’s commitment to positive and meaningful initiatives helping people with disabilities:

  • Handi'Chiens: a charity that trains assistance dogs for people with disabilities. It received an €85,000 subsidy in 2022 to fund the training of five dogs(3), bringing the total number of dogs funded in full by the Foundation since 2000 to 74.
  • La Bourguette: a charity for people with autism. It received a €49,500 subsidy to fund a dedicated body language project(4).
  • Le Centre de l'Arche: this hospitalisation and rehabilitation centre provides rehabilitation support for people with motor disabilities, particularly after a serious accident. It has received several grants to develop a driving simulator, a quantified movement analysis tool and a home automation room.
  • Mode & Handicap: the Foundation has supported this charity, which uses fashion as a means of inclusion for people with disabilities, since 2008. It was involved in particular in funding a 3D printer and two sewing machines.

Supporting the growth of parasports in France

The MMA Solidarity Foundation supports the development of parasports and has been encouraging young people to get involved in parasports since 1983. In particular, it has funded equipment to help people with disabilities to access sport.

In 2022, the Foundation supported 32 charities promoting a wide variety of disciplines such as fencing, cycling, boccia, shooting, handball, basketball and rowing(5).

Listening to positive initiatives

The projects selected and supported by the MMA Solidarity Foundation must meet six criteria:

  1. Be run by a non-profit organisation;
  2. Operate in the MMA region;
  3. Be used to finance a clearly identified initiative;
  4. Be of community benefit;
  5. Be intended for people with disabilities;
  6. Have a concrete and practical impact.
