MMA has been working to promote road safety for many years. Every single day, we demonstrate our commitment to the safety of current and future motorists, both individuals and professionals. In 2023, we invested €872,000 in road safety(1).

“La route Zérotracas MMA”, our dedicated road safety platform

In 2000, MMA was the first insurer to create a website dedicated exclusively to road safetyLa route Zérotracas MMA. The platform gives internet users access to a set of tools and content to help them drive better:

  • Revision modules: on the site, users can revise their road signs and practice free of charge for the French highway code test, the ASSR school road safety certificate levels 1 and 2, and the learner motorcyclist permit.
  • Dedicated apps: the platform offers apps to prepare for the learner motorcyclist permit and the ASSR school road safety certificate levels 1 and 2, and the MMA Covéa Coach ACC to help with learning to drive. In total, the apps were downloaded more than 60,000 times in 2023(1).
  • Traffic information: Zérotracas MMA provides real-time traffic information for the whole of France. Drivers can access a traffic index and details of weather conditions.
  • News: numerous articles are published on the website, attracting 3.2 million visitors in 2023. Together, the X, Instagram and TikTok accounts have more than 45,000 followers(1).

Company road safety programmes

Although road accidents account for more than 20% of fatal workplace accidents(2), road risks are all too often underestimated by businesses and management teams. To counter this, MMA has launched around 40 dedicated road safety programmes for businesses with a car fleet. This commitment to road safety has resulted in a number of initiatives:

  • The Zérotracas MMA Business website to prevent the risk of road accidents at work;
  • Daily news, videos and prevention modules;
  • A range of solutions via Covéa Solutions Prévention: road safety programmes and a range of on-site and e-learning training courses;
  • Technical tests at the CESVI research and technology centre;
  • Distribution of a white paper on road safety at work.

Targeted communications for each road user

In 2023, MMA launched a number of targeted communications campaigns for different users, reminding them that road safety is everyone’s business:

  • In May, during its “Road safety at work days”, MMA raised awareness among small business owners about road safety at work. This was achieved via an opinion survey reported in the press about shortcomings and what should be done to improve employee safety, together with a film shown online and via LinkedIn with a link to a page of solutions on the “La route Zérotracas MMA” website.
  • In July, MMA provided support for drivers taking to the roads during the summer holidays. An advertisement for the general public, shown on BFM TV, together with a radio ad on RMC, shared tips and encouraged people to take a responsible, positive approach “for stress-free holiday driving”.
  • In October, MMA launched another campaign for the general public, encouraging everyone to share the road to protect vulnerable users. An observational study, reported in the press, highlighted the difficulties different types of users experience when sharing the road. An awareness-raising campaign entitled “The road is not a sports ground”, featuring the sportspeople Aurélien Fontenoy, Laura Valette and Ahmad Dekaki, was shown online and on social media.
  • In December, MMA ran a campaign to make future drivers aware of the importance of knowing the highway code properly. “Tout est permis” with MMA is the first safety-focused Twitch stream and is presented by well-known influencers Doigby, McFly & Carlito and Kaatsup.  The concept combines talk, quizzes and video games, including a custom map on Fortnite, for a new approach to road safety.
